Image of the Year 2011
Here are the finalists for The Digital Dawn 2011 Image of the Year competition, selected by course leader Garry Brannigan from his landscape photography courses in Scotland, the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales, Northumberland, Torridon, Ullapool and the Isle of Skye.
As each year passes, the enjoyable task of selecting the photographs is becoming more of a challenge. I have chosen 70 this year, which is ten more than last year, and there were many others that could have been included.
The criteria for choosing each photograph is straight forward: the photographer needs to have spent time exploring a location for the special ingredients to make an image, and has then followed the creative process through with a well thought out composition. The result is a photograph unique to them.
Voting is limited to photographers who have joined me on a previous course or have booked one in the future or have asked to be on the Digital Dawn mailing list. The winning photographer will be able to choose a framed limited edition print of one of my photographs.
I will let you know the successful image in the Spring when I get back from my Isle of Skye course, so there is plenty of time to make up your mind.
